It is one of Barcelona's most loved nights, the eve of Sant Joan on 23 June, so it is worth it if you enjoy noise and late nights. Expect neighbourhood bonfires, fireworks and firecrackers everywhere, coca de Sant Joan and parties on the beaches. If loud bangs bother you, it may not be your night.
The neighbourhood revetlles. On 23 June the Flama del Canigó, a flame brought from the Canigó mountain, arrives in Barcelona and is shared out to light local bonfires. Streets in Sants, Sant Antoni, the Raval and the Eixample hold dinners, concerts and bonfires. Share a coca de Sant Joan, the sweet pastry of the night.
The beaches draw the biggest crowds on Nit de Sant Joan, from Barceloneta to Bogatell and Mar Bella, but the street revetlles feel more local. In 2026 there were parties on Avinguda de la Catedral, the Rambla del Raval, and Carrer de Valladolid and Carrer de Papin in Sants, among many others. The programme changes every year.
Firecrackers are everywhere on Nit de Sant Joan, so keep an eye on children and pets. The City Council usually clears the beaches early on the morning of 24 June for cleaning, and the metro usually runs all night, so there is no need to drive to the Barcelona beaches.
Barcelona's beaches get packed on Nit de Sant Joan. The City Council usually deploys hundreds of Guàrdia Urbana officers and channels people into Barceloneta beach from its ends. If you want room to breathe, the neighbourhood street revetlles are calmer. Beaches are cleared from early morning on 24 June.
