For many locals it is the Piromusical, the fireworks and music show that closes La Mercè. In 2026 it takes place on Sunday 27 September at 10pm on Nova Icària beach, moved from its usual spot by the Magic Fountain because of works at the Montjuïc fair grounds. It is free, and the metro is reinforced that night.

Plaça de Sant Jaume is the heart of La Mercè. On 24 September the giants dance there in the morning and all eight of the city's castellers groups build human towers from 1pm. The correfoc runs on Passeig de Gràcia, and free BAM concerts play at Plaça de Catalunya, Moll de la Fusta and the Rambla del Raval.

Almost everything at La Mercè is free and in the street, so pick two or three highlights and wander between them. For the correfoc, on Saturday 26 September 2026 from 8.30pm on Passeig de Gràcia, the City Council advises long cotton sleeves, closed shoes, a hat and eye protection if you get near the sparks.
