Not on its own, but it is a good part of a December trip. The Fira de Santa Llúcia has been held by Barcelona Cathedral since 1786 and is considered the oldest nativity market in the world. In 2025 it ran from 28 November to 23 December, 10am to 9pm, and browsing is free.
The Catalan Christmas details. Among the nativity figures at the Fira de Santa Llúcia you will find the caganer, the crouching figure hidden in Catalan cribs, and the Tió de Nadal log. There are also stalls of Christmas trees and mistletoe, simbombes, the traditional Christmas drums, and handmade crafts.
The Fira de Santa Llúcia fills Avinguda de la Catedral, right in front of Barcelona Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter. Around 160 stalls sell nativity scenes and figures, about a hundred sell greenery like trees and mistletoe, and around 30 sell crafts. A giant Tió usually appears on set December days for children.
